Watched another Carol Reed film - "Fallen Idol"
Reminded me of Hitchcock, but Carol Reed definitely has an artsy style that is all his own. Normally I don't like a film with kid as central character - but this one wasn't McCauley Culkinish at all. I will definitely queue up "our man in Havana" and Odd Man Out.
Elegy is waiting at the library - it looks ok, but I think I'm going to skip it. I'm just not in the mood for a "relationship" movie.

If you want to see one of the greatest performances of all time by a kid actor, watch The Bicycle Thief (AKA Bicycle Thieves).Freed Roger wrote:Watched another Carol Reed film - "Fallen Idol"

That trailer didn't look very funny at all, other than the Mike Tyson part. The Bruno trailer was hilarious though.PujolJunkie wrote:I will see this in the theatre first day it's out. Mark my words.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:The Hangover second trailer.

I haven't seen Borat and probably won't see Bruno, but the only thing that kind of humor does is make me feel sorry for everyone he talks to, even if some of them are racists or bigots. Same goes the for the Daily Show's small town bits. It's funny sometimes, but I always feel bad after I laugh. I have a hard time feeling those laughs are earned. He's not being particularly witty, he just does something that's extremely ballsy and confrontational. It's just slightly more sophisticated than Tom Green, as far as I'm concerned.

The good news is that Zach Galifianakis makes everything funny, so it should at least be OK.cardsfansince82 wrote:That trailer didn't look very funny at all, other than the Mike Tyson part. The Bruno trailer was hilarious though.
I watched The Day The Earth Stood Still recently. Don't ever do this. For the first little bit I thought it had a chance to be a scifi movie that, although not a good movie, could be entertaining. I just wouldn't tell anyone. But then it got so stupid so fast that it actually made me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.

The Razzies referred to it as "The Day the Earth Blowed Up Real Good".

thank you. He has some really good stuff, but the hipster hype machine is way out of hand.

I bet you movies about guys getting married, who also happen to have wacky friends, are testing really well right now. A couple of schmucks on a studio board probably concepted that movie over their lunch break.

I need Thrill to back me up on this one. I've never seen anything he did that wasn't hysterical. The puritan comedy crowd, purple onion, vodka movie. All hilarious. I even own a copy of Out Cold.
