Just bet about half of those winnings on Where the Wild Things Are.
How does that stuff work? Does the fake money get you anything, or is it just amusement/bragging rights?
Purely amusement/bragging rights.

That 3 Stooges sounds terrible, though i can definitely see Sean Penn as Larry.

And Terry Gilliam is the man. He's in my top five directors (that sounds like a good thread.)

do we really need to [expletive] remake the [expletive] "3 Stooges" for crying out loud?

I didn't mean to insult Gilliam. I just meant to imply that the chicanery in Fear and Loathing had as much to do with Gilliam than it did with the content.

F&L is the most faithful adaptation I've ever seen. To steal a phrase from Ebert it's like Gilliam was reading over my shoulder.

Particularly when it's predicated on the idea that it was the situations the Stooges were in, and not the three incredibly talented vaudevillian comedians themselves, that made the show watchable.

I'm 20 minutes into City of God. I'm curious as to if this is going to live up to the hype or not because I just see a very good foreign film and not one of the best movies ever..

That's how I'd look at it. I thought it was great and probably worthy of a best foreign picture Oscar, but "one of the best movies ever" would be crazy hyperbole.
