Dead Ringers, that's my second favorite of the five I've seen behind A History of Violence. Then I'd go Videodrome, Eastern Promises and The Fly. I've really liked all of them.

We saw The Waterhorse on Saturday. It was better than I expected, the CG effects were very good - the creature was believably there. I really enjoy hearing the Scottish accent, too.
The kids really liked it.

I made the ridiculously stupid decision to see Knowing.
I seriously laughed through the "heavy" parts of the movie.

Third Man, I saw the Third Man recently. Great flick.
unknowingly, I had seen parts of it before on movie channels, such as near the end with the guy carrying the balloons.
The movie was beautiful to look at, so just passing by on channel surfin you get hooked. what a setting.
I've only seen Joe Cotten in a few movies , such as Shadow of a Doubt - an underrated actor.
and Alida Valli -va va voom! she now ranks up there with Ingrid Bergman amongst my grand-crushes

He's not the only one that thinks so. The Third Man is my moniker at Rotten Tomatoes and it's been in my top three movies of all time for the past 15 or so years. Anyway, not trying to draw attention to myself...just wanted to be another voice echoing how great that film is.Freed Roger wrote:Third Man, I saw the Third Man recently. Great flick.

Videodrome is one of my favorites of his. Not sure what order I'd go in, but I'd put The Fly and Naked Lunch both up there. The Third Man wrote:Dead Ringers, that's my second favorite of the five I've seen behind A History of Violence. Spider is a good one from him that doesn't get a lot of attention. Ralph Fiennes is the main character, but Miranda Richardson steals the movie. You'll be saying "Eh, plumba?" for weeks.
On a somewhat related note, happy news - after hearing me say it since i saw There Will Be Blood, my boy now randomly shouts "I drink your milkshake" and thinks it's hilarious. For some reason it makes me extremely proud and happy every time.

Comic relief like this is my only current source of motivation for ever wanting to have children. I'm selfish like that.ghostrunner wrote:On a somewhat related note, happy news - after hearing me say it since i saw There Will Be Blood, my boy now randomly shouts "I drink your milkshake" and thinks it's hilarious. This was actually on the shelf at Blockbuster and I remembered you mentioning it. I was surprised at the number of recognizable actors in the film. Just my opinion but the last 15 minutes or so didn't measure up to the rest of the film, which was quite good. It was certainly more enjoyable than a lot of films I've seen recently and a very solid effort, especially considering it is their first.heyzeus wrote:Did any of you Netflixers ever watch my friends' movie, Humboldt County?

Otis-Equal parts hilarious, creepy and terrible. Worth a look if you like cheesy horror spoofs. This movie could have been a 10 if it had been written and acted a little better. Great soundtrack, perfect villain and some solid minor roles.
Marie and Bruce-This was a complete waste of time. Matthew Broderick and Julianne Moore are a married couple that are on the outs. Broderick plays one of the most annoying characters in the history of film. Moore is kind of funny for how openly hostile she is towards him. The film follows them for one boring day in their boring lives, interspersed with a couple of dream sequences that are never explained and do nothing to advance the non-plot. Maybe if you were married you might get slightly more out of this movie than I did, which was nothing.
Wonderland-I had never heard the story before of the Wonderland Murders. Rather fascinating story involving some fascinating characters. The movie itself was sort of disjointed and Kate Bosworth fell flat. But I thought Val Kilmer was very good in the role of John Holmes and for whatever reason true stories, especially true crime, always hold a certain added appeal for me.
