I'm withholding judgment about it winning/not winning the Best Picture Oscar until I've seen the other nominees. But I'd say it was definitely Oscar worthy.UK wrote:IMO, it is prob. the best movie I have seen in quite some time.

Exactly, I hadn't seen the others but going on memory this is the best movie I've seen in quite some time and you're right about Brolin as far as doing the best job.JL21 wrote:I'm withholding judgment about it winning/not winning the Best Picture Oscar until I've seen the other nominees. It was a great movie all around...but I need to see the others first, like you both said.UK wrote:Exactly, I hadn't seen the others but going on memory this is the best movie I've seen in quite some time and you're right about Brolin as far as doing the best job.JL21 wrote:I'm withholding judgment about it winning/not winning the Best Picture Oscar until I've seen the other nominees. This absolves me for missing the GRB meet-up.

I watched it a while back actually and forgot to say anything. I enjoyed it, and it's not the sort of film that I usually sit through.

Re: Recently viewed movies
Role Models- This would normally be the kind of movie I hate but I couldn't help myself. I laughed my ass off all the way through. Lots of good supporting roles and probably the best set of small perky boobs I've ever seen. As far as mindless comedies go I enjoyed it more than any of the recent Will Ferrell or Apatow/Rogen movies.
Synecdoche, New York- I was digging it for the first hour or so and then it went downhill. Just tried to address to many topics using too many metaphors. It's the kind of movie you have to watch 5 times before you pick up on everything. But I wouldn't put that kind of effort in since I didn't like it all that much the first time through. It would have helped if subtitles worked on the DVD, which they didn't. I can't stand having to guess at dialogue. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was great as usual, though.
