Ah, but Richie, I didn't tell you how the midget becomes mayor. That mystery is still out there.

(I'm legitimately sorry if I ruined anything; I see a few pages back where you were talking about synopses and reviews ruining things for you)

Blazing Saddles. Okay, I fell asleep but my 8 y/o daughter watched almost the entire thing. She had lots of questions for me when I woke up, such as "Did the governor and his wife have S-E-X?"
Then I felt I needed to explain the satire and the use of some really sketchy racial language to an eight y/o.

Sometimes I need to censor my parenting better.

My Dad took me to see Blazing Saddles when I was about 9 years old! How I loved that movie.

Just went to a Terrence Davies film festival tonight, and watched two of his movies: 'Distant Voices, Still Lives' and 'The Long Day Closes'. Both movies are very fragmented sketches of a time past. Lots of nostalgia, mostly about family and song, though also about style, youth, and the Catholic church. Both movies are challenging watches as there isn't really a cohesive story in either, but rather just moments in life, sometimes happy, sometimes painful. I'd only recommend these movies if you're a movie dork like me. Have any of my fellow GRB movie dweebs seen any of his movies? I guess his most well-known one is 'House of Mirth', but I understand that it's very different from his much more experimental other movies. There's another one screening tomorrow afternoon (his latest), but I'm not sure if I'll go yet.

I just saw Superbad for the first time tonight. A few funny moments, nothing epic.

The "Teen Passage to Adulthood" type movie has changed a lot since "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", though.

We rented Body of Lies last night. Not exactly the right-mood-setting flick for the last night home for two weeks, but we thought it was pretty good. Better than the 51% RT gave it (click link for details). Leo was very good.

I didn't get much out of Samurai Rebellion, but I loved Harakiri by the same director, one of my favorites.

King of Kong is streaming on Netflix. I really enjoyed it. If you feel like a nerd watch that movie and you'll feel better about yourself.

Billy Mitchell is a fascinating character.
