I lie at Gander Mountain about my zipcode when they ask me at the register.

I lie about mine when asked at retail stores too. I also either make up a phone number or refuse to give one when they ask.jim wrote:I lie at Gander Mountain about my zipcode when they ask me at the register.

Maybe I'm flattering myself, but I think it takes a certain sophisticated level of intelligence to go out of your way to buck the system...Arthur Dent wrote:To tell whether this messes up polls, we'd have to find whether Obama or McCain supporters are more likely to be dicks then.jim wrote:Mainly just to be a dick.Arthur Dent wrote:Why?jim wrote:Being someone who understands the basic statistics behind polling, and combining that with being a cantankerous old coot, when I am polled on anything I give the exact opposite answers of what I really mean. If I get polled, I'm a McCain guy all the way.
So Obama supporters would be my guess.

I don't do that, but we are on the exact same page with this stuff. I've signed various names, put X's, etc... but especially on those ones with the electronic pens and pads I'll just put a line.docellis wrote:i also draw pictures of flowers and smiley faces instead of signing my name on those tablets where you swipe your credit card at stores.
Yes I have signed it as Albert Pujols before.

Because you can't go back and erase it later.docellis wrote:i lie about everything when i am polled too. even on those websites that ask you to put your demographic info. or ask where you learned about the product. i have no idea why i lie 100% of the time when anonymous.

This is sort of interesting - McCain now says he would fire SEC chief - Christopher Cox .UK wrote:

Here's why its interesting. Cox was an arch-conservative poster boy congressman from OC California. about as partisan an appointee as they get. anti-tax, deregulate everything, and privatize sort of guy. He's got a 98% lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union. He was appointed to office by Bush to oversee regulation of the SEC. nothing like having another fox guard the hen house eh?
At one point, Cox was rumored to be a leading candidate for McCain's VP.
there are 3 dons of the US economy Fed -Bernanke, Treasury-Paulson, and SEC - Cox. Cox is the one getting the most criticism amidst this financial crisis. There was a failure to regulate - and this was Cox's job. SEC is to oversee that the public receives accurate information on the financial status of companies and investments. when all these bad mortgages were packaged and sold as investments, they received stellar bond gradings. Balance sheets of financial companies were way overstated. according to reports, Cox has been absent (physically, not figuratively) from meetings with the other dons on handling the financial crisis.
Is McCain reading the polls and beefing up effort to distance himself from Bush?
Is McCain trying to flip-flop on yet another issue - deregulation?
Anyway. I do give McCain points for calling this Cox arse out.

I usually just make a squiggly line, but no more.
