It's been his name since Page 1 of this thread, but you just seem to be using it NOW to incite. Nobody here believes you're not trying to stir up trouble with it.
I wasn't made aware of his quote about it until today. If he thinks it's a great thing, aren't I just helping him?
Is your goal to help him?
Why did you even bother typing that out.
You and others have gone out of your way to distort the truth or incite or stir up trouble in regards to the right. All I'm doing is what Barry wants. No distortion at all.
Yeah...... great job. You win.
We agree for once.
Anyway, here's what he said:
Obama:The second thing my supporters understand, the day I'm inaugurated, this country looks at itself differently and the world looks at America differently. And if you believe that we've got to heal America and we've got to repair our standing in the world, then I think my supporters believe that I am a messenger who can deliver that message around the world in a way that no other candidate can do.
Tavis: They would look at the U.S. differently for what reason or reasons?
Obama: Well, I think if you've got a guy named Barack Hussein Obama, that's a pretty good contrast to George W. Bush, to start with.
I think we should all say something nice about whichever side you oppose. I'll start. When the primaries started, I definitely thought McCain was the lesser of the evils and I loved his campaign finance reform position.

Why should we care? 90% of the flaming in this thread has come from interpreting a post in such a way that the poster feels words are being put in his mouth. If everybody weren't so thin-skinned, this place wouldn't be turning into Cards Talk.
i really dont think this place is turning into cards talk
This thread is certainly bringing back memories. I haven't seen a flame war this bad since GoCubsGo called DK a pothead in 2003.
its one thread...and a thread like this would be more like in that current events forum...
i agree this thread has brought up a lot of emotions, but i dont see it as some turning point in GRB's history to a CT like way
To be honest the CT reference was mostly to try to get everyone to stop and look at what they're doing. It obviously didn't work, as the flame war continues. Neither side will be swayed, yet both think they can sway the other, resorting to petty insults when it doesn't work. They read between the lines of innocuous statements, find vindictiveness that may or not actually be there, then go on the defensive. The moonbattery and wingnuttery is ridiculous.

I don't want John McCain to be my president. How's that?

John McCain's daughter Meghan said Tuesday that her family has a special understanding of the military, claiming that "no one knows what war is like other than my family."
McCain, appearing on NBC's "Today Show" to promote her recently released children's book on her father, said the experience of having the country at war is "just different when you have someone in the military," adding that "obviously, I think my father gets it more than anyone."
"I mean, my family — I have two brothers serving in the military. One is about to redeploy to Iraq," McCain said. "My father is obviously a famous war hero. No one knows what war is like other than my family, period."
McCain added that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has a similar understanding because her son Track is slated to deploy to Iraq on September 11.
Nobody knows what war is like, other than her family?
Are you freakin' kidding me?
That is a slap in the face to every family who has a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Thanks for helping prove my point. A stupid comment that is probably far from the meaning she probably tried to get across. But let's make a big deal out of something a candidate's kid says, one that's certainly not used to being on TV. Heck, I've said some stupid things being nervous on TV in front of an audience of >500 before. It's easy to let the nerves twist your words when you're not used to it.

Good idea. We have two decent candidates for President. IMO both guys are better than what their parties offered up in 2000 and 2004.
Talks of tax cuts etc are just campaign blubbering. The country is broke and can't afford it. Candidates are more moderate than portrayed. The main policy difference between these candidates is their views on the war. a lot of their rhetoric is just shoring up the base.
Whoever we get will be a huge improvement over the administration in there now.

The trouble is these sorts of things aren't unique to CT or, at times, on here, when politics get discussed openly.
