How exactly does Obama defend against the ad I just saw, "No balanced budget", "Ready to tax hard working American families"? It's completely false.

1st, they would need to call it as it is....BSplanet pujolsian wrote:How exactly does Obama defend against the ad I just saw, "No balanced budget", "Ready to tax hard working American families"? It's completely false.
2nd, He has to establish the parameters of his economic plan and hammer home how McCain's plan mirrors Bush's and follow it up by pointing out the obvious condition of the regressing economy/unemployment.
As far as the tax situation, they need to outline the tax distribution under Obama's plan compared to McCain's and also mention that those hard working families are working just as hard but not making the same returns since the wages have leveled but not the price of everyday goods and services.

First, where's McCain's balanced budget? Second, who was the first President in 30 years to even submit a balanced budget? Clinton, a Democrat. Before that? LBJ. Bush inherited a surplus and had one balanced budget. Since then it's been deficits all the way.planet pujolsian wrote:How exactly does Obama defend against the ad I just saw, "No balanced budget", "Ready to tax hard working American families"? Then for the tax thing, do a little Ross Perot and throw the chart up that Popeye has posted. It's an easy one to understand. The average American will love Obama's tax plan. They're not going to care that he hikes taxes on rich people. The Democrats just have to make sure those people get out and vote.

First of all, sorry for being so snarky and nasty earlier. I apologize. I used to say I'd never debate politics or religion. Thus why.
I've been doing phone banking for a while now. A long while. I've printed out a bunch of fliers and I'm gonna be working on door to door stuff tomorrow and through the week.planet pujolsian wrote:With all the political passion on this forum, is anyone involved in either campaign? My wife is thinking of working for Obama, and she's never voted before.
The only person I ever considered working for was Bob Kerrey. I hoped he would run in 2000, but it never happened.

I've had the pleasure(HA!) of working with local politicians, too. Treasurer of the town I live in when she attempted to run for Mayor. Also delivered door hangers and such for a friend of hers running for State Rep. And another friend of hers.. can't remember what he was running for. Also worked for a guy trying to become head of the school board at Riverview Gardens High School. Talk about freaking cheap skates.ghostrunner wrote:My wife is thinking of working for Obama, and she's never voted before.

im repeating this, which i already said in this thread...but i hope one of the candidates responds like this:
Oh, it's all right. I'm sure that we can handle this situation maturely, just like the responsible adults that we are. Isn't that right, Mr... Poopy Pants?

I don't know if this is smearing her or what exactly the policy is for what I'm about to post and if it's considered "reaching," but I found this on Washington Post.

I don't know if this is relevant, but it seems like somewhat of a story and has made traction on NewsVine and the Kos. Just saying. Not looking to argue about it.Palin Billed State for Nights Spent at Home
Taxpayers Also Funded Family's Travel
ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.
The governor also has charged the state for travel expenses to take her children on official out-of-town missions. And her husband, Todd, has billed the state for expenses and a daily allowance for trips he makes on official business for his wife.
Palin, who earns $125,000 a year, claimed and received $16,951 as her allowance, which officials say was permitted because her official "duty station" is Juneau, according to an analysis of her travel documents by The Washington Post.
The governor's daughters and husband charged the state $43,490 to travel, and many of the trips were between their house in Wasilla and Juneau, the capital city 600 miles away, the documents show.
Flights topped the list for the most expensive items, and the daughter whose bill was the highest was Piper, 7, whose flights cost nearly $11,000, while Willow, 14, claimed about $6,000 and Bristol, 17, accounted for about $3,400.
One event was in New York City in October 2007, when Bristol accompanied the governor to Newsweek's third annual Women and Leadership Conference, toured the New York Stock Exchange and met local officials and business executives. The state paid for three nights in a $707-a-day hotel room. Garnero said the governor's office has the authority to approve hotel stays above $300.
Asked Monday about the official policy on charging for children's travel expenses, Garnero said: "We cover the expenses of anyone who's conducting state business. I can't imagine kids could be doing that."
