Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread

I don't think I've ever been so confused, upset or disappointed in people more than I'm confused at, upset at and disappointed in Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Sarah Palin right now. They have and continue to demean community organizers. And it really is truly sad. That's not even a defense of Obama. That's a defense of community organizers everywhere. Truly pathetic.

I don't think Rudy being an complete and utter buffoon has any impact on how one decides to cast their presidential vote (other than being thankful that he's not listed anywhere on the ballot). At least I hope not.

Rudy doesn't, he's just guilty by association I guess. But Palin does. And the way she has openly just dogged community organizers in the past 3 days is.. really really odd and truly elitist.

The idea that any of us are "supporting" the troops is somewhat of a fallacy. Sure, some of us buy stickers for our cars and believe in what we're doing over there. Other have somehow found a way to oppose the war but still support the troops.

In World War II, everyone in the country was behind the effort because we were all investing in the war. We all made sacrifices. An hour couldn't pass without being reminded of our commitment over there.

In this war, which Bush has compared to WWII, we were told to go shopping, go to Disney World, just go about our business like nothing has happened. It's no wonder that so many are either aloof to the situation or just plain sick of our involvement in that area of the world.

It might not take more than a smartass to get the Republicans (primarily the Limbaugh crowd) going but it certainly takes more than one to succeed in Washington (or anywhere for that matter, outside of talk radio). I don't foresee the excitement over her lasting.

Same here. Actually, I think by the time of the election she's going to be a black eye on the campaign.

The snarky [expletive] tone she takes is annoying. And what's terrific is that we get to hear it repeatedly since it's part of her stump speech. Last year I thought that there was no politician I could have less respect and despise more than Rudy Guiliani. But then Sarah Palin came along.

This is from Marc Ambinder and was posted at Kos.
A senior McCain campaign official advises that, despite the gaggle of requests and pressure from the media, Gov. Sarah Palin won't submit to a formal interview anytime soon. She may take some questions from local news entities in Alaska, but until she's ready -- and until she's comfortable -- which might not be for a long while -- the media will have to wait. The campaign believes it can effectively deal with the media's complaints, and their on-the-record response to all this will be: "Sarah Palin needs to spend time with the voters."
