Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
Both these guys wrote memoir/autobiographies years ago. I'm referring to their first books, not later ones. the ones with "fathers" in the title. anyhow - besides providing insight on their background, they are both interesting reads.
granted McCain's was more interesting because he had a lot more history to share. Obama's memoir was written when he was in his 20s, so presumably he wasn't considering presidency at the time he wrote it. in his forward, he says he's now a little embarrassed by how/what he wrote at that age and how self-important it all sounds. But its still an good read.
its been years since I read them, but I recall that each book helped you know what makes them tick. And they both seem like genuine decent people. I don't condone everything they've done in their personal lives (affairs, drugs etc) but they admit their mistakes. Point is - they come across as human. instead of relying on what the pundits and hearsay on their personal life, i suggest people read the books.
So with both being decent people - IMO really it comes down to what sort of policies they align themselves with.

You don't really expect someone from MSNBC to admit a Republican did something right,do you?ghostrunner wrote:Howard Fineman on MSNBC says "the accidental brilliance of choosing Sarah Palin."
That's lame. McCain knew exactly what he was doing.

I'm starting a Gameday Thread for the debates. Michael, note this. It's going to be really fancy in its own Snayke Way.cardsfansince82 wrote:September 26, 2008: Presidential debate with domestic policy focus, University of Mississippi, Oxford, MSJocephus wrote:when are the debates?

I'm so excited to see a debate without Bush. Love them or hate them, both of these candidates have a grasp on basic sentence structure and vocabulary.GatewaySnayke wrote:I'm starting a Gameday Thread for the debates. Michael, note this.
