It's one of the most violent and shocking days in the history of the country, and something like it could easily happen again. A President's philosophy on how it should be handled or prevented is important. I'm not saying you have to agree with McCain, but obviously most Republicans have strong feelings about it and still think it merits discussion. I don't know who you are to say otherwise. You may be sick of it but that's your problem, not theirs.

On another note, has anyone ever seen Cindy McCain out in the daytime?
Presenting a policy on terrorism is one thing. You don't really need to re-live 9/11 as a political gimmick to explain your policy.

It's an example of why you'd want such a policy. I don't see the big problem.

I haven't gotten to the end of the debate yet (geez this thread!), but all this talk about taxes and supply side economics and trickle down played well in 1984 but it didn't really work out the way Ronny promised it would. I don't imagine ANYBODY wants our government to go around collecting taxes to pay for wasteful projects. I also don't think anybody wants our government to go around bailing out private companies when they are on the verge of bankruptcy for their inability to effectively compete with foreign competitors. But you have to consider the alternatives as well. It has to be a certain balance.

For those who don't want to raise taxes, how do you propose that we pay for this trillion dollar war, for example? Everyone wants to cut this or that theoretical wasteful spending, including me. But the debate is over what is good spending and what is wasteful. I can't think of a bigger, more ridiculous waste of our taxpayer money than the trillion that is going to that pointless, unnecessary, ill-conceived war in Iraq. Sure, we can cut taxes again and again and again and we can hope that it will stimulate so much economic activity by those who hold capital that it will pay for itself, but every time we do it, we see our deficits balloon. How is it that Clinton and his Congresses (mostly Republican led) took over a huge deficit and were able to balance the budget and pay down that deficit significantly in 8 years. And how is it that Bush and his Congresses (mostly Republican led) have not only reversed that trend, but have put us in far worse shape than we were when Clinton took office in 1992. Now, I'm sure you can come up with all kinds of circumstances that explain it, but I'm really sick of this completely inaccurate lie that gets bandied about constantly from the right side that Democrats raise taxes and spending and Republicans reduce them. Look at the data, it's just not true, no matter how many times any of you or McCain or Rove or O'Reilly say it is. I'm sure that different people of different political persuasions have very legitimate disagreements over what our tax money should be spent on and maybe over how flat or progressive the tax system should be. So let's have an honest debate over these issues, rather than claiming that one party loves to tax and loves to spend and the other one (that has been far more fiscally respnonsbile in recent history) doesn't.

Really? You think people need a reminder that 9/11 happened? Do you honestly think that a single American has forgotten that day, and needs to be reminded?

It's not a huge deal. Just seems like a pretty tasteless political ploy, and another scare tactic designed to win votes.

Wow... "uppity." I'm not one to get offended at racial stuff (I laugh at Chappelle jokes), but that's completely out of place. Any time I hear the word "uppity" I'm wondering when it's going to be followed up with "negro."

Somebody just found themselves on Keith O's [expletive] list.
