That's actually Julia Louis-Dreyfus, unless you've seen something I haven't.. in which case a PM is in order.

Most all the pics you're talking about are fakes. I've seen several already. Yours has the head from this pic pasted on it:

Sorry, but I agree with robbotis. A lot of what he says sounds like pie in the sky to me. Just my opinion. That's not to say he doesn't have some substance in there as well, but the whole unity, hope, change message that seems to inspire so many on the left has always sounded like well staged rhetoric to me.
Some call it "pie in the sky" because that's the easiest way to not try to live up to it, in my opinion. People can just write it off as rhetoric, and then they won't be set up for failure. I understand the fear. And I understand that hope alone isn't going to change things. But there's substance behind it. If you watched the speech, you would have caught that, too (I'll be happy to post it here if you missed it).

Did you watch Obama's speech last week?

We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country. The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals. I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination. Passions fly on immigration, but I don't know anyone who benefits when a mother is separated from her infant child or an employer undercuts American wages by hiring illegal workers. This too is part of America's promise - the promise of a democracy where we can find the strength and grace to bridge divides and unite in common effort.
Sorry, but I agree with robbotis. A lot of what he says sounds like pie in the sky to me. Just my opinion. The reality is, we're either going to find a middle ground that makes sense to all sides, or nothing is going to be done about these issues. Neither side is ever going to have "their way", when the country is split on the extremes of these issues.

If you floated a compromised position on these issues to most Americans, I believe they would agree. I believe the extremists on both sides are ruining this country for everyone else.

EDIT: And can Obama follow through on this? Is it just rhetoric? I don't know. But I have more faith in him doing it than I do the current Republican ticket. Especially with what I heard last night.

John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted into heaven; and preached that the Sept. 11 attacks and the war in Iraq were part of a world war over Christianity, The Huffington Post reported after reviewing recorded sermons by Kalnins."

Interesting. And not receiving much coverage....yet.

I don't really see what the problem is here. She talked about God having a plan and praying that we successfully carry out that plan to a church. I don't think that's inappropriate at all.

And, I stopped reading the article a few paragraphs into the attack on Kalnin began because I don't see what that has to do with anything. Palin switched churches after Kalnin took over. Not right away, but as anyone who has grown up in a church and been a lifer there can surely tell you, it's not like you're going to up and leave after a couple bad sermons. Heck, my parents stayed in their church despite a pastor they didn't like for a lot longer than 3 years. And, in no way did they agree with everything they said.

I don't get the comparisons between Palin and Obama in this regard. Had Obama left his Pastor 3 years into his tenure, then sure, there would be a comparison. But, until it became political suicide, Obama defended Wright.

And, like I said, a congregation doesn't always agree with everything its Pastor says. I don't think Obama really believes we should all damn America or have God damn America as the far right would have you believe nor do I think Palin believes if you don't vote for her you're damned to an eternity in Hell as the far left would have you believe.

Just my opinion.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I fail to see how "Hope" is a good way to base someone's vote on. It's America, people can make themselves out to be whatever they want. Their hope should rest in themselves, not some smooth talking politician. People are praising Obama for bringing hope to people. If so, those people are truly the hopeless and no speech by a presidential nominee can change that.

Who said anybody is basing their vote on hope? I admire the way Obama conducts himself, I admire the way he ran his campaign, and I agree with him on many issues.

Why are people hopeless if they're inspired by a vibrant, energetic young man with good ideas?
