I admit it, I was mostly disappointed.

Am I too simplistic in breaking it down as follows?

Democrats: "here's our plan for making things better..."

Republicans: "...and democrats SUCK because..."

What is the GOP platform besides drilling in ANWR
and hating the rest of us?
Nuclear power is always a good topic for me...but something tells me the Republicans won't get it done. It kinda makes me wonder who's going to profit from ANWR...and how much more pollution is it going to create?

I'd love to have a new Nuclear power plant in each state.
I don't get it. Nobody seems to want to pick that up and run with it. Republicans are about oil, and Democrats are all about everything else but nuclear.
I know...nuclear is the only way to go until they get solar cells above the 60% efficiency threshold (they're around 41% now). Wind just won't get you enough right now. I don't know too much on the efficiency of geothermal and it's limitations so I'll just say that I like it. They've been touting clean coal for 20 years and really have done nothing about it...it's dead in my mind.

I thought it was a very good speech from her, better than I expected. It was more about united the right than fishing for indys.

It's ok pop...I think things have come a long way in consumption and environmental issues to choose the lesser of two evils. Plus the advances in recycling and storage have increased as well.

Is anyone else a little worried that one of these two men will be the president of our nation come January?

Frankly, I don't particular think either one of them are fit to be president...

And I'm sure I'll get railed from both sides by that comment...but the more and more I think about this election, the more I really hate the candidates in general
I've said it before, but in my opinion these are the best two people either party has to offer. I wouldn't be upset with either one, though I'm voting for Obama.

Yeah, it's okay pop. But someone will dig your post up if you ever try to run for public office.

Clean coal:
Clean coal is a term used to describe methods and technologies intended to reduce the environmental impact of using coal as an energy source. These efforts can include chemically washing minerals and impurities from the coal, Gasification, treating the flue gases with steam to remove sulfur dioxide, and other proposed technologies to capture the carbon dioxide from the flue gas. The coal industry uses the term "clean coal" to describe technologies designed to enhance both the efficiency and the environmental acceptability of coal extraction, preparation and use,[1] with no specific quantitative limits on any emissions, particularly carbon dioxide.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clean_coal_technology

Basically extract it cleaner and put a big filter on the smoke stacks (we all know how well filters work...cigarettes). It probably will happen in some regard...but not enough to stop pursuit of solar, wind, geo, nuclear...

I thought McCain was against drilling in the ANWR.

Compared to the eight years we'll be coming off of? No.

Can someone educate me?

They are doing the Republican roll call, and they showed some of it on CNN, and Arizona, John McCain's home state, passed on giving their 52 votes to McCain..

Is that a rule? Or what was upw ith that?

I imagine we'll be hearing more about Hillary and Biden's comments from the primary about Obama not being prepared. I think Hillary even spoke of McCain favorably by comparison.

Also, that clinging to guns, religion, etc will be hammered on some more. Easily the dumbest thing Obama said in his whole campaign, and I think he deserves some flack over it.
