My PERSONAL feeling is life starts at the moment of conception. I don't expect others to share this belief, and as I stated many pages ago, I don't judge anyone, if you had an abortion, or you were involved in one, I don't condemn you, I don't know what you were going through. I personally would never be involved in one. I have never called anyone here a murderer.haltz wrote:Consider it dropped. I'm still wondering what you meant. No one thinks killing people is OK.wart57 wrote:Let me explain something here, If I thought you were a murderer, I would have said so.
When does life start, Wart? When is abortion wrong for you?

What would you call killing someone else? These are your words. Stand by it. Just don't misrepresent the opposing position.
I don't have a problem with what you think. I have no idea when life starts, but it's sometime a bit after the sperm enters the egg for me.

That, and "finding" a constitutional right in a preamble.BenNX74205 wrote:I agree that Roe v Wade is pretty much a disaster area of an opinion. The "undue burden" standard set forth is precisely what the court should NOT do when determining what is and is not a constitutional, fundamental right. Allowing cases to come up piecemeal to determine whether "x restriction" qualifies as an undue burden just clogs up the courts.
That's right when looking at the holding, but my fear is it's precedential value when the Supreme Court decides it has jurisdiction to even hear a case. (there is a word for that, but I took Con Law 6 years ago, so you have to help me)BenNX74205 wrote:Bush v Gore is also a pretty awful decision, but thankfully it's precedential value is virtually zero, and will probably never be relied upon as support for a later decision even if it technically is never overturned.

I am all for it, I am tired of talking about an issue that we will not resolve. I respect your opinion, you respect mine, and we will look for something else to talk/argue about.AJ wrote:Dammit guys, we need a different wedge issue to bicker about, this horse is beaten to glue....

I would like my president to me the smartest person in the room. I don't know if our current president is the smartest in the room when he is in the bathroom by himself....jim wrote:How important is educational background for your president? We can probably both agree that McCain (Naval Academy) and Obama(Columbia/Harvard) are beyond critique, but how about Palin (Hawaii Pacific/North Idaho/U of Idaha with only one BS in Communications to show for it)?wart57 wrote:I would like my president to me the smartest person in the room.
