The whole Clinton and the bj thing is getting old,I agree, but what would happen to the average person if thier boss found out they were getting a hummer in the office? I would lay good money on him getting fired and escorted out of the building the same day.

Omaba himself said it shouldn't be an issue. That being said, I don't think Obama's mom was fighting to keep safer sex education out of schools.

Most people don't have a special prosecutor who dislikes the employee appointed on them investigating some business deal from a decade earlier and when that investigation runs into dead-ends gets further extensions by a group of people who want that person fired to keep fishing for a few more years until finally you find out that he had a BJ in the office.Hudler wrote:The whole Clinton and the bj thing is getting old,I agree, but what would happen to the average person if thier boss found out they were getting a hummer in the office? It's looking more and more like she wasn't really vetted.

I don't know how you go about teaching creationism in any science class. There's no science to teach, just a story that has nothing to do with science. I think the token "some people believe..." is fine, but that really shouldn't amount to more than two minutes in a science class. I guess if I were a teacher, and depending on the desires of the class, I might spend a day and let students make their case for creationism and then debate it. That seems like a good exercise even if it's off the book.

As I said suspected on page 110 (in the dim reaches of memory), much of the discussion about Palin will focus on McCain's judgment.Michael wrote:greenback44 wrote:LOL, ABC News says Palin belonged to the Alaskan Independence Party, who favor some sort of Alaskan secession, in the 1990s.

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
It would be weird if the McCain team wouldn't have known all about these little things (the 'troopergate' investigation, her former association with a secessionist party, her actual position on the bridge to nowhere), but a big part of the success of this selection was the surprise and timing. If there had been a lot of McCain people asking a lot of questions in Alaska, her name would have been more on the radar of the media. So there is a possibility that in their desire to keep it a secret, they didn't do a full and proper vetting.sighyoung wrote:As I said suspected on page 110 (in the dim reaches of memory), much of the discussion about Palin will focus on McCain's judgment.Michael wrote:greenback44 wrote:LOL, ABC News says Palin belonged to the Alaskan Independence Party, who favor some sort of Alaskan secession, in the 1990s.

And yeah, I also agree that the way the Democrats have to frame this is in terms of McCain's judgment as opposed to focusing on attacking Palin directly. The McCain people always talk about how he puts America first, but this choice sort of flies in the face of it, or at least it can be argued that way.

That's great. Look in you Biology book and make sure there isn't that one sentence disclaimer about Creationism. Dime to a dollar says it's there.RxOfCowbell wrote:I've only been going to high school for the last four years. havent heard a single thing about creationism. ever.jim wrote:RxOfCowbell wrote:jim wrote:
Only Christians are able to get their creation story introduced into public schools under the guise of "Creationism". I can't even call it a psuedo-science, because it's not. It's simply the Christian interpretation of creation, yet it gets a sentence or two (and even chapters) in most HS textbooks.
This is hilarious. When's the last time you've opened a HS textbook?
30 minutes ago actually. And you?
biology books that talk about evolution will almost always have an some sort of apologetic comment about "Some people believe there are other theories ... creationism" etc... Sometimes it's only one sentence, but the fact that it's in there at all shows the pull of the Christian right in our school boards.

Why is that fine in a science class? Should you give a two minute blurb about meterology in a Home Economics course? A two minute blurb about Calculus in a PE course?ghostrunner wrote:I don't know how you go about teaching creationism in any science class. It's a concession, and two minutes is two minutes too much.
