Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain: The Thread
She probably won't get any Hillary votes...she isn't pro-choice, that won't go over very well with Hillary-supporters.
She's inexperienced (25th amendment)...and the Republicans pretty much took the ammo away from themselves with regards to Obama's experience.
She's married to big oil (BP).
She's involved in an ethics scandal.
I'm not saying she isn't qualified...but Obama's inexperience is moot now...and VP debate will be interesting, I'm still giving it to Biden.

I realize why you're making that argument. And I'm not saying you're wrong. What I'm saying is that she's probably more conservative than McCain. If so, I very much like that. I mean, I would have preferred Fred. But he had his head up his rear for a long time in terms of campaigning, and he didn't make the best fit for VP probably. But I'm in favor of those with more conservative ideals than the one running for the top office.Richie Allen wrote:Which is why I made the argument that this move was one of desperation, as compared to a more traditional pick that you'd expect from him. Did he even make the pick himself?BW23 wrote: It's not as if strong conservatives are exactly thrilled with the choice of McCain. Lieberman would have been the desperate pick and the nail in McCain's coffin at the same time.

I don't think this negates the Obama lack-of-experience argument. Not completely. She's not going to be the one making the decisions. Obama would be.TimeForGuinness wrote:She probably won't get any Hillary votes...she isn't pro-choice, that won't go over very well with Hillary-supporters.

If McCain was 10 years younger...I'd probably wouldn't care...but he isn't...BW23 wrote:I don't think this negates the Obama lack-of-experience argument. Not completely. But it does negate it...because they played the "inexperienced card" and then went right out and got an inexperienced person to run with McCain.

Their voting records. I refer to the League of Conservation voters and the Sierra Club to do the homework for me, but both organizations have frowned (putting it mildly) on the Bush/Cheney administartion. Both endorse Obama.ghostrunner wrote:What are you basing that on?jim wrote:This, by far, is the worst environmental ticket to ever run for President of this country. According to these two organizations, McCain is as bad as it gets.

As far as Palin, I'm not willing to label her based on ANWR and opposing a state initiative that may have problems in the details.
I think it's obvious Obama is going to be preferred by those groups.

Well, I seriously doubt he'd be any worse than Bush/Cheney, Reagan/Bush, or Bush/Quayle, and I imagine he'd be a little better based on his entire voting record. He was against drilling in ANWR at one time, for whatever that's worth. I think you can argue he changed his mind given current events. I have myself.jim wrote:Their voting records. I'm quite certain he would have picked Rice if she wasn't so tied to the current regime.BW23 wrote:Lieberman would have been the desperate pick and the nail in McCain's coffin at the same time.

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
I just woke up groggy-eyed and came to pretty quick when I read Palin's name.
So far, I'm not very impressed with her. She's running for vice president of the United States -- not Caribou Palace, AK. This speech is about as un-vice presidential as it gets.
