They controlled their destiny....and blew it. That's how this college football season has been .... not many #1 teams stayed #1 for very long. I look forward to the bowl games announcement tonight...announcers will scream, cry, laugh, you name it. It will be outstanding.
Actually, if Ohio State had to choose between playing Oklahoma on a neutral field to make the National Championship, and letting someone else play Oklahoma on a neutral field and making the National Championship if OU won, I'm pretty sure they'd go ahead and pass on the game against the Sooners.
OU was just the better team, proving that twice. Next year is really our year, though, with Bradford and Murray having a year under their belt and a little more experience. Not suprising that this team struggled most on the road.
MU gave it a good run, but really, they were never a #1 caliber team. The elite of college football slipped just far enough for good teams (MU and KU, BC and others) to catch up to them. It could be the start of real parity in major college football.

You really think that players have that mindset? I'd be willing to bet that Ohio State would have preferred to be playing for a chance to play for the title yesterday.
The real point is that Missouri controlled their own destiny yesterday, and Ohio State didn't.
