Almost as bad as a couple of years ago when that female singer(Angelique? Something weird like that, can't remember) sang "Aaaaand the rockets GAVE glare!!"
Once in a lifetime opportunity, even for the superstars...get the lyrics right to the anthem of the country, at least. C'mon.
BTW, is it just me, or was the backup singer special(As in mentally impaired)? He was sort of singing backup sometimes, often off-key, and then wasn't other times. No offense if he was, I just honestly wasn't sure.

Where can I go to volunteer to sing it next year? I know the words...and I can sing on key, which neither of them did last night..Even Paula Cole (whoever the h##l she is) was off key.
At least the cameraman had the decency to keep a tight shot so we did no have to see her falling out of her dress (as we have the last couple of years). We get it, you got boobs--maybe you could teach THEM to sing. Geez!

If you watched the Chris Isaak show, the whole concept of him singing at the all-star game was humorous as soon as they announced it.
On the show, he plays a fictionalized version of himself, a semi-well known music star but living in the suburbs, sort of like how Seinfeld plays himself on Seinfield.. the band on the show is his real band, except the keyboard player Anson who is an actor-- his actual band has no keyboard player.
Anyway, Chris Isaak has always been based out of San Francisco, has an album San Francisco Nights, etc. So the show also takes place there.
On one episode, he is asked to sing the National Anthem at a SF Giants game, and he has a huge phobia about it, is afraid he'll screw up, actually develops laryngitis, loses his voice, much hilarity and hijinks ensue.
So when I see he's out there at the all-star game and he brought his drummer Kenny to sing harmony, I was laughing my ass off-- he was probably too chicken to do it himself.
So then when they screwed up, it was perfect.

Sounds like an annoying publicity stunt.

I like Chris Isaak.
And I can see getting nervous and flubbing things on such a big stage.
BUT I wasn't watching the ASG at that point.

Didn't hear them screw up the words but I was in the kitchen and all I kept thinking was "Man, they are REALLY off key."
On a side note, and I know I'll get slammed for this, but the playing of "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch is getting old. I can see it for something like the All Star game but for the regular season games I'd much rather hear a rousing rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame!"

I think most people agree with that. Enough already.Molly wrote:Didn't hear them screw up the words but I was in the kitchen and all I kept thinking was "Man, they are REALLY off key."
