It was a night of near comebacks and other disappointments in the Cardinals’ minor league system tonight.
Memphis lost 10-9 to the Albuquerque Isotopes. They had the tying run at third in the bottom on the ninth but were unable to get him in. Chris Narveson had his second rough start in a row and gave up 6 runs over 3 and 2/3 innings. Chris Lambert gave up 1 run in an inning of work for his AAA debut. John Gall was 1 for 4 with a homer. Scott Seabol was also … oh wait… Brendan Ryan was 3 for 6 with a double and a triple. He’s brought his average back from .200 on April 26th to .252 now. Rick Ankiel was 3 for 5 with a homerun. John Rodriguez was 2 for 5 with a double. Ryan Ludwick was 2 for 4 with a double and played right field tonight (wink wink, nudge nudge). Box Log
Springfield lost 4-3 to Wichita on a walk off walk in the bottom of the eleventh. Jaime Garcia gave up 2 runs over 5 and 2/3 innings with 5 strikeouts. Joe Mather was 2 for 4 with a double. Jarrett Hoffpauir was 3 for 5. Bryan Anderson went hitless and is currently mired in a minislump (he’s 2 for his last 20) but caught 3 would-be base stealers. Box Log
Palm Beach lost 6-2 to the Brevard County Manatees. Shane Robinson was back in the lineup for the first time since having to leave the game on May 1st, and he went 2 for 4 with a stolen base. Box Log
Quad Cities lost 4-3 to Cedar Rapids. The scored 2 runs in the top of the ninth, but ultimately came up short. Tyler Herron gave up 3 runs over 4 and 2/3 innings. Costarter Brad Furnish gave up 1 run (unearned) over 3 innings. Brandon Buckman was 2 for 5 with a double. Box Log

I can't believe that Gall and Seabol are both still in someone's system.
Ankiel's season line:
.283 .327 .586 .913
I really can't believe that I'm following him and his season this closely. It's just such a good story, and he keeps getting better and better.
That's a 913 OPS boys. 913.
That would be good for second best on the Cardinals right now, just 30 or so points behind Duncan and a bit ahead of Pujols.
