on my current iPod playlist:
songs Statman digs:
that first charted in Jan-Feb 1960:
i whittled this down from a playlist of every song that first charted (on the Billboard Hot 100) in this same 8 week time period; I reckon the original list was 3 or 4 times longer.
After going from a "Disco Sucks" teenager to a snobbish "if its popular it isn't cool" 'zine-writing 30-ish balding pony tail guy to my current shave-headed 40-something humble statman i have now reached a point where I have no shame and have finally shed all sense of "what is cool" and now just go by "what i like to listen to". No invisible hipsters are looking over my shoulder or whispering in my ear.
Although Blinky acts really embarrassed every time "Theme from a Summer Place" is on. But I caught him humming it the other day while he was bouncing around the living room in his plastic hamster ball.
