What criteria do you use to measure best QB of all time? Because the only one I can think of that would lead to him NOT being the greatest ever would be the "must have won multiple championships" category...

If you want to bring championships into it (which is fair), then I'd say Elway is the best QB ever. Numbers alone, I'm pretty sure Marino dominates everyone, especially passing yards.

Trying not to be bias here, which is really hard...But if Peyton is just as good in the second half of his career as he has been in the first half of his career, there won't be any debate when it's all said and done. Peyton Manning is on pace to be the greatest QB ever, and if he keeps it up, there shouldn't be much debate.

Marino dominates pretty much everybody else, but not Favre. After next year, in all probability Favre will surpass Marino in the longevity categories. Favre lhas also ead his team to a championship. Throw in his Ripken-esque streak of consecutive starts, and (for my money) Favre becomes the hands-down best QB ever.

As for Peyton, yes has had a great first half of his career. He's got the single-season TD record and racks up numbers at a prodigious rate. He also got himself a championship, so he's got that on Marino. And if he does perform the same way for the next 8 years and catches Favre and Marino, then he would be my choice for best QB ever. But in the here and now (of in the "after next season), Peyton's not there yet.

Favre has amazing stats. The one thing that is just such a huge turn off for me for Favre is his intercetpions. He needs 5 this season and then he will be the all-time leader in interceptions thrown. Sure, he has played more games than any QB ever as well, but when you throw that many inteceptions, it makes it really hard for your team to win, and that's what I don't like about him. No one can deny Favre's positive stats...But numbers don't lie, whether they are passing yards, or interceptions.

Favre does have 273 career interceptions, and is closing in on the all-time leader for that stat. Marino had 252 for his career, in one fewer game (compared to Favre right now). In the last 2 seasons, Favre has racked up 37 of those 273 interceptions. By season as a starter, his TD - INT has been: +5, -5, +19, +25, +26, +19, +8, -1, +4, +17, +11, +11, +13, -9, +/-0.

When he was -9 with 29 INTs two seasons ago, he lead the league in INTs. But he also lead the league in completions and attempts that season. I think your view of Favre's negative numbers is a bit short-sighted all things considered, especially if your measuring stick is Peyton Manning in the prime of his career.

Most seasons with 20+ TD passes (12, all consecutive)
Most seasons with 30+ TD passes (8)
Most NFL MVP Awards (3)
Most CONSECUTIVE NFL MVP Awards (3)

It's really easy to forget just how good Brett Favre has been in his career.

Sure is...Maybe I'm being too harsh on Brett because of the last couple season have been awful for him. Still not loving that interception number though.

When it's all said and done, Peyton will be able to give Brett 3 MVPs, and still have the lead!!

Being the die hard Pack fan, I love Brett to death, but still can't call him the greatest ever. Top 3, but like everything else, this is all opnionated. All I know is I'm gonna miss him bunches when he does retire. We won't see anyone like him again
