They did pay 150 million, as others have stated. However, that also included the Stadium East and West parking garages which they later spun off and sold for 90 million.

So, essentially they paid 60 million (net) for the team.

Now that I am thinking about it again, I believe they spun the garages off for 60 million so they paid 90 million (net) for the team.

Well either way they got the team cheap. When the go to sell it their profit will be amazing.

This is why nobody much cares when teams complain about rising salary and pretend to be "losing money." Even if your operating revenue was negative for a year (doubtful) the team is still worth hundreds of millions more than just about everyone paid for it.

I assume the value of the Nationals includes value related to the new stadium being built. I'm not quite sure, but I think the team owns just about everything related to the stadium from parking to naming rights, and is just required to pay a pittance in "rent" to DC.
