Need help with my pitching...

Post by phins »

My "other" league is a standard H2H 5X5 Yahoo league.

I've never seen an auto draft screw someone so badly before.

Team:

C- Martinez
1B- Ortiz/Shealy
2B- Figgins/Biggio
SS- Felipe Lopez/Crosby
3B- Miguel Cabrera/Zimmerman/Upton
OF- Bay/Baldelli/Hunter/Willingham

The problem is my pitching:
SP- Pedro/Colon
RP- Cordero/Todd Jones/Benitez/Borowski/Wood/Cla Meredith

Yowsers, I have ZERO starting pitchers. Guys on the waiver wire are slim pickens right now of course. Best of which are: Jennings, Tomko, Moyer, Maine, Pelfrey, Suppan, Meche, Wakefield, Wade Miller, Vargas, Morris, Washburn.

I'm going to cut Biggio and try to get Orlando Hudson, Chris Burke, or Vidro. Which one?

Who should I cut for what pitching? I'll have two DL spots to work with as well (I'll need them lol)

I was offered Matt Cain for Jason Bay, I'm getting the short end of the stick, am I that desperate?

Ugggghhh..this is going to be a tough year I'm afraid as this is a perennial champions league and the other guys aren't dumb.

Thanks for any suggestions.

For 2nd base, I'd try to grab Hudson, like you say. Maybe watch Vidro (I don't really have any faith that he has anything left plus he's in a pitcher's park now, but maybe being a DH will revitalize him).

Wow, that really did screw you. Two injured starting pichers and nothing else. Hopefully, you can trade from your 3rd base and RP depth to get a semi-valuable starter. Of those on the wire, I like Jennings, Suppan, Miller, Washburn and Maine in that order. If you have to, I would drop Wood, Meredith and Willingham or Crosby.

I still wouldn't do Bay for Cain, but I can see why it's tempting.

I ended up doing Borowski for Lowe. That helps.

I just got offered Lackey for Figgins. I'm leaning towards yes on that deal as well.

Opinions on that trade?

This is why I stay far away from autodrafts.

I'm in Grad school, had a test in my Accounting class. Not too hard decision there, had to make the test.

I didn't even think about the draft being the same night until like 45 minutes beforehand and by then it was too late.

I'm getting the team to come around though. Adding Lackey and Lowe makes my staff much better. Add a couple of waiver guys and deal Zimmerman for an arm, and bam! I have a pretty solid team really.

Don't deal Bay. He's far and away your best OF.

Do you have BJ Upton... or Justin? If it's BJ, he'll qualify for 2B soon.

I'd be tempted to drop Willingham for someone, but without knowing who's on your waiver wire, it's hard to make recommendations.

Does your league have any UTIL spots?

If you could, give us your updated roster.

I already did the deal...You'd be the first person that didn't think I fleeced him. I don't need steals at all, and I desperately need pitching. Works for me.

I have one util spot yes. I dropped Willingham for Nixon, because I feel Nixon hitting second in that lineup with score lots of runs and have a high average if he stays healthy. I have never really liked Willingham much.

C- Martinez
1B- Ortiz/Shealy
2B- Hudson/soon BJ Upton and Felipe Lopez
SS- Lopez/Crosby (should I drop Crosby for Tuli?, unsure)
3B- Cabrera/Zimmerman/Upton
OF- Bay/Hunter/Baldelli/Nixon
SP- Colon/Pedro/Wood/Loewen/Lackey/Lowe/Wakefield (there is nothing out there on WW, maybe he gives me some K's and wins for now)
RP- Cordero/Jones/Benitez

I have an offer out for Haren/Ervin Santana for my Zimmerman/Crosby, I doubt he takes it though.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all. It was a really good move.
