If anyone was watching the Braves-Phillies, they had a graphic up of headlines in the National League. One was "Cards Pitching Stacked?" This would imply that the Cardinals could have an impressive rotation.

John Kruk's reply? I disagree with that. "It's Chris Carpenter, Anthony Reyes...then flip a coin." But again, this is the same guy that said Randy Johnson would win 30 games in 2005, so I'm going to slightly excuse his ignorance.

The thing about Kruk is he has this amazing capacity to distance himself from anything he says once it turns out to be wrong.

Midseason if our pitching is great, he'll have no qualms saying so and acting like if felt it would be all along.

I still remember, in 2005 when it looked like Houston was about to tank on its season, Kruk suggesting the Astros should trade Roger Clemens to the Cards so that Clemens could pitch in another World Series. Or was that 2004?

I actually like Kruk. I don't expect him to say smart things, but he provides a raw take on baseball that I find funny (ocassionally), obvious, but still interesting.

As much as I like Kurkjian, BT would be pretty boring if it was just him and Karl Ravech for an hour. You've got to have some personality.

I don't like ANY baseball analysists on ESPN. Not even Gammons anymore to be honest, they all just bug me. I really can't think of any that I like whatsoever.

Well to be fair, I wouldn't really use the term "stacked" to describe the Cardinals pitching either.

What's not to like about Kurkjian and Gammons? They are both very fair. Olney's not too bad either; a tad sensationalist, perhaps, but all around pretty solid.

I don't mind Kruk. Some of his statements are not the brightest, but he is largely comic relief. I don't need my analysis to sound like it's being read from an encyclopedia.
