Prior won't be in Cubs April rotation

"The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Mark Prior will not be in the Cubs' April rotation and may not get another start in an official Cactus League game.
Prior will pitch in a minor league game Friday, but reportedly will begin the season at Triple-A or on the disabled list. ''I don't think we are going to have enough time and innings to continue to stretch out as many people as we [have],'' manager Lou Piniella said. That leaves the fifth-starter job down to Angel Guzman and Wade Miller, who seemingly has the upper hand. Mar. 15 - 9:51 am et"

Steve Stone was on WGN yesterday. I didn't catch all of his comments, but he did say that in his most recent start, Prior was throwing 86-89 MPH in the first inning before falling off to 83-85MPH in the second inning.

If I were a Cubs fan (after shooting myself)...... I would embrace this new ideology. No longer will the season depend on the Macaroni arms of Prior and Wood.......

They are turning the page.

How many years in a row now has he opened the season on the disabled list? Or is it just two and it only seems like more?

Everytime I hear about how Reyes' mechanics mimicked that of his USC teammate Prior, I cringe.

that's not true.

i didn't get a chance to watch the game, but the nsbb game thread told me a totally different story velocity-wise.

better. he was hovering between 86-88 for the two innings he pitched. it's not good, but it was an improvement.
