Another Pavano Nugget

Post by Michael »

From BP...
The New York Yankees are saying publicly that they are looking for a comeback season from Carl Pavano, but word is they would gladly trade the troubled right-hander and pay much of the $24 million left on the final two years of his contract. That feeling only increased this past week when Pavano was sued for his part in an automobile accident last August in Florida. Colorado, St. Louis, and Seattle continue to be mentioned as the most likely landing spots.

Pavano is a guy I would like to see as a Cardinal and the Yanks are willing to pay a majority of his remaining contract. Get him!

That they are facing Gary Thompson who will be bagging groceries in Podunk Virginia in about two weeks. Come on it's Spring Training people. We need all the help we can get.

Adding Pavano = Looper back as RHP setup = insurance in case wells, reyes, or wainwright falters or get hurt. The Yankees are moving ever closer to signing Clemens, making Pavano expendable. He's already persona non grata in the Yanks clubhouse. I bet he can be had cheep, with the Yankees picking up a lot of salary. Makes sense to me.

Shameless plug for my blog.

I did an analysis of Pavano and Carp that you all might find interesting.

Is Pavano Another Carpenter?

Yeah, but Joe Smoe sucks. I'm talking about Gary Thompson. :)
