Am I the only quite excited to see the club that invented the farm system(true story - Branch Rickey Managed the Cards in the 20's and since the team couldn't buy talent they'd grow their own in a Farm System - won 3 WS's I think with those players) finally get one churning something out.
Sure for now we are churning out average to slightly above average relievers. But not only does it keep payroll down as long as Jim Bowden is out there you can turn them in to OFers who hit better than Juan and Field better than Duncan.
I really looking forward to this team continuing to improve in the minors and maybe churn out a Top-10 prospect in the coming years.
That is all.

I agree that things are looking up for our farm system, which has consistently ranked near the bottom over the past several seasons.
I think 2007 is a critical year for our current crop of prospects--guys like Rasmus, Garcia, Anderson, Perez, etc. We are counting on several of these guys to assume key roles by 2010, and most of them will be trying to establish themselves at AA this season.
I think our current crop of older prospects likely to start the season at AAA (Cate, Hawksworth, Cavazos, etc.) provide some nice depth, especially at pitching, but I am not sure if these are the impact players of 2010 and beyond (except perhaps Hawksworth).

I think he has been in charge of our last two drafts which have both been great. Can't wait to see who we get at 18 and 36 this year.vinsanity wrote:This draft is supposed to be really deep too, when did Luhnow take over the prospecting and such?
What are the chances we continue to draft well and start seeing some more impact players like Garcia's and Rasmus' Coming up?
