I was just starting to like Palacios.

But I am happy with the return.

Fair deal. Bullpen upgraded.
Did we get fleeced?

Hell no. In and of itself it's a great trade. Palacios isn't anything special. Role player for a role player. As always with the Mo front office (and/or the Dewitts), the issue was stopping short.

I guess you could argue if they knew they weren't going to do more they shouldn't have bothered, which is fair. And if you want to look in terms of years, the Rays "win" it, but it's not like that wasn't known to be a possibility. But I'd do the same trade again.

I liked Palacios and still follow his career from afar but the trade made sense then when you look at what the needs were.

We would have had three [expletive] seasons with or without him and he probably would not have gotten the chances he has gotten in Tampa with all the OF glut so it was good to move him for an arm that we needed at the time.
