Welp, it's been about 105-107 degrees with no rain for weeks now, and there's not much hope of that improving for a few more. I spent most of the weekend trying to get a wifi mesh network I bought to work ([expletive] you, Netgear Orbi), including 2.5 hours on the phone with a very nice gentleman in India who was doing his best to get six (6!) firmware updates onto the devices, to no avail. Then the Cardinals went and [expletive] the bed these Three Nights In Philadelphia In August, ceremoniously ending the season that they weren't really trying to win anyway. And all the signs are there won't be a next season.

For the foregoing and non-exclusive terms and conditions, the State of Texas requires me to legally inform you that yesterday was the 2,183rd worst day of my life.

But if he needs to be pulled after 4 innings and 63 pitches, then he doesn’t need to be starting

As far as Marmol, he makes me long for the days of Vern Rapp.
Every time I hear what a great manager he is, I want to break something!

I agree with your post. This pitch management issue that horrible Marmol is doing is just ridiculous.

The pitcher usage (number of pitches) is being dictated by the front office, and the front office hasn't provided the Cardinals with starting pitching alternatives to use. I would love for Leahy to be moved to the pen, let him close for the last month of the season to keep his innings in check. But with Pallante and Dobbins going on the IL in the same week and moving Leahy to the pen they can't magically fill 60% of a rotation in a week. I assume Josh Fleming will be up next time his spot in the Memphis rotation comes around. Mathews seems to be here to stay the rest of the season. Pallante hopefully gets back after a minimum stay on the IL, but the last few times through this rotation are going to be pretty rough.
