I think viewing the ecstasy and agony of the players is great. But can we stop showing crying 9 year olds in the stands? Seems like we’ve come a long way, and these men can cry on the field without having their t-levels questioned. But those kids in the stands? Leave them alone.

I loved the videos you posted above, AW. And I don't follow soccer closely enough to know if our guy deserved a red card or not. I know most people said he didn't.

But I agree with whoever it was that said it's not a good look for Trump to push around the people running the tournament. You came in here and claimed "TDS". What did you expect the reaction to be?

That’s a good question. I’m not sure.

I saw a World Cup that was awesome. People from all over coming together and enjoying themselves. Great soccer which was a given.

And half the thread is about Trump doing what he could to help America, justifiably so. I mean…touché should be known can’t be on that side around here. But, I guess I just wanted to point out how ridiculous it is.

That said, it didn’t matter. Balogun was welcomed at the espys, america did what they do in soccer, and thankfully Argentina handed England perhaps the most heartbreaking loss of the tournament. World Cup is awesome and I’m loving it.

My favorite take is when meatheads complain soccer is boring. They can have their four hour games with 12 minutes of action and 850 light beer commercials, and often enough just as little scoring. I’ll have this.

I hope that Barstool guy isn’t watching. He doesn’t deserve to.

Elevate soccer/futbol to a major sport in the U.S.

In my opinion... we took a good step forward over the past 30 years. Hopefully we continue on that trajectory so that in another 30 years, we can compete with the European and South American superpowers.

There are some pretty big pay to play problems in American youth soccer. I hope those can get smoothed out a little.

I hope we can field a team in the next few world cups that isn’t 80% from European youth programs.

It was great fun. I hope a few more families and kids were won over. They aren’t calling a soccer a communist plot in congress anymore, at least. I think things are still progressing with peaks and valleys. It’s seems perfectly reasonable to expect we get a good little boost from 2026.
