I'm ecstatic we got Lawrence. I predict he'll end up being one of the best players out of this draft. This kid has skills. Here's a detailed report on him......

I think we are still overloaded at lw with Holloway, mcmichael, neighbors, stenberg, suter, and buch all top9 guys fighting for 3 spots.

I guess you just play 1-2 of those guys on their off side but it would be nice if they could balance a bit. I know carbo is coming soon but I’d assume he’s a year plus out.

I’m actually okay with us seeing what we have on d, other than signing a 6/7 rd vet. Give lindstein and mailloux a year to see how they handle top4 duties and another year for jiricek to develop to see what we have.

I think it’s going to be a year of seeing how all these pieces and kids fit. Hopefully by next offseason we look like a team ready to be a consistent playoff team.

Feels like we really overpaid for McTavish, without at least a later round draft pick coming with him. Two firsts in this draft is a lot.

We essentially traded Kyrou, Schenn, and Faulk for McTavish, McMichael, Lawrence, and Gastrin. Maybe that’s still coming out ahead since Schenn and Faulk were essentially sunk costs.

I’d like to see if we can still shop Binner and his contract. If we can do so I think we would still have $20MM+ of cap space to go shopping.

And for our 3rd round pick we have left, we chose Luke Schairer

Obv know nothing about him, but most rankings had him mid 30s to mid 40s (so 2nd round grade)

Headed to Boston University

Except we also got a mid 1st (15) buchelnikov, a third from nyi, and the goalie prospect gidlof. (Holl and drouin are filler and don’t count for me)

I agree we overpaid for mct, but looking at all 3 trades, I think we got good value overall.

I don’t think we trade binner unless the return is substantial, which why would it be after last year? Plus then we would need a backup for Hofer. Might as well ride binner out and see if he can get to 200 wins. I just don’t think we need to go big game shopping for a couple of years.

Very solid guy to stabilize the right side but this seems like a poor use of resources unless we think he could be a medium term fit for another few years. He is only 29 so maybe if he’s a good fit they see a 4 year extension. Maybe they think they can take a step this year.

Interesting week. Probably the most interesting offseason since 19. I think, other than our rfas, we’re basically done. Team ready.

NHL Draft Projection

I see Schairer going in the early second round, somewhere in the 40s. Some think he should go in the first round, while others have him going later in the second round. It’s unlikely he sees the third round, however.

We could use another RH winger; only have Thomas and Suggy RH and both are on the same line

Right now, the other 3 lines would have to have a LH playing off on the right side
