I know nothing about mcmichael, but is he really a C? Those are some good number so far for the 25 year old if so?

I’m really liking this trade

According to Washington fans on HF Boards website, McMichael plays a lot of wing, and is basically only a 3rd line center at best, with horrible faceoff numbers. He is pretty speedy though. I'm slightly underwhelmed over the return, but I guess we did boost our center depth a little, and did get the 16th pick.

I’m a broken record on this, but if we keep all those picks in the first round, two of them better be spent on Rucks.

Even if McMichael is just a wing, I think he’s at least a 2nd liner who is not a pylon defensively. I don’t mind giving up our Selke nominee for him.

He’s apparently very good defensively and was used on both the PK and PP; and his hockey IQ is off the charts

Basically the opposite of kyrou lol

Holy fork! I knew there was a lot of fan speculation, but I figured that was just because Kyrou was the whipping boy. Geez.

So uh, is our second line Neighbors-Dvo-Buch? Because if so, yikes for next year.

Returns feels a little light/sold low in my gut, but I admittedly know nothing about the two prospects except what I’ve scanned over the last 10 minutes. Getting 16 for Kyrou when we got 15 for Faulk (even if we expected it to be mid 20s) feels meh. I just wonder if we are going to see Kyrou pot 150 goals over the next 5 years while we complain about the lack of secondary scoring.

Then again, we’ll see what happens. I didn’t expect us to contend for at least a year. There is time to find another scoring winger.

The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues for forwards Connor McMichael and Milton Gastrin and Washington’s first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2026 NHL Draft, senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick announced today.
