The MLB app gives every player with the same last name across baseball an abbreviation of their first name. I’m used to seeing players with the same last name on the same team get an abbreviation of their first name. But the MLB app calls Roki Sasaki of the Dodgers “Sasaki” because there are are no other Sasakis in MLB, but his actual jersey says “R. Sasaki.”
