Back to the draft.

Unless we can package our picks to trade up for a top-10 tier defenseman, I think our best path in the draft is to take the Ruck twins with 11 and 15, then target the best defenseman left on the board at 29.

Looking at the D corps longer-term then, you have:

LD: Broberg, Fowler, Tucker, (Lindstein)
RD: Parayko, Mailloux, Kessel, (Jiricek)

I think you try to draft a LD, then search for a top pairing RD on the free agent or trade market. Which yes I know is nearly impossible to find. Parayko can likely still take top pairing minutes on the defensive end, but I think he's better slated as a 2nd pair going forward. I don't think Mailloux will quite develop into that top pair. Jiricek is likely more of a 2nd pairing ceiling.

I hate when there is an actual penalty AND they also call embellishment. Like, Sir, either that was a high stick to the face, or it wasn't, and the guy is acting. It can't be both.

I also think the rules for Goalie Interference are way too gray. But I'm not sure how I would word them. It seems like every time they try to tweak those rules, they make it worse.

Woah, DET C Dylan Larkin requesting a trade (apparently tired of not making the playoffs and issues with management. Born and raised in Michigan, went to college in Michigan, and is the captain for Detroit’s team…and wants out lol)

Anyways…my money is of course he’ll somehow end up in Vegas!!

If Minnesota could find a way to snag him they would be pretty dangerous.

I’m willing to give their #15 pick back to them in exchange for Larkin.

I’d add a good prospect, say, Buchelnikov, and heck, maybe SJ’s 3rd. See what they say.

While I’m ranting about rules that should change - the delay of game penalty for flipping the puck over the glass.

This was added after teams would intentionally flip the puck over the glass so that they could complete a shift change when gassed, in lieu of icing the puck. When that fan was killed by a puck (which I believe was a deflection anyway), they instituted the rule.

The punishment simply doesn’t fit the crime. Just treat it the same as icing. If it is in your offensive zone, move the faceoff out of the zone. Easy peasy.
I immediately thought of this post when Carolina was able to tie the game in the last minute due to this penalty call against Vegas LOL

Would you trade a 30 year old 30g, 70p center for Kyrou and #29? Wouldn’t make sense for them. They would probably want Dvo+++. Larkin would make us REALLY good up front (Imagine Kyrou with him) but we still need our young D to mature and he’s just a bit old for our window imo which is still a year or two from opening, if all goes well. I’m not sure where we will find the 2C we need. I guess I doubt we will. I think its another year of Buchy/Suter/Dvo bouncing around there.
