It's looking like they'll have to win 25 games in a row at the end of the season to sneak into the playoffs.

It’s still early enough that a good November can land them to within striking distance of a playoff spot but yeah, they are using up their runway early.

The winning streak got us all excited but maybe this shows that while we have some good pieces, we are still a couple of years and a few good players (hopefully mostly in-system) away.

Or maybe it’s just a rough start. We’ll see.

Hockey Guy has us 30/32 in the power rankings today, and I can't say I disagree.

He also said we really shouldn't be this bad, and I also agree.

Starting to wonder what the top couple of picks look like this year.

Was that a salary cap move for Wash? Otherwise, I'm confused why they trade a major league D-man for an AHL nobody.

Also, welcome back Calle!

I was thinking maybe moving a piece to be able to add a piece.

I heard trade rumors about Kyrou, Faulk and Parayko from a friend on Saturday.

I'd trade Kyrou. Too many lapses in his compete level. You may be able to find someone to give you decent value.

I doubt anyone would give you much for Faulk. I think he's a sunk cost. Parayko I think is good on the Blues, but he shouldn't be a top-pair defenseman.

Overall the D just needs to be better. The forwards I can forgive a bit, since there will be some bumps along the way as the younger guys develop. I think we all took making the playoffs again to be a given, but the parity in the NHL right now is pretty tough. There's a handful of elite teams, a small handful of truly awful teams, then about 25 teams all within shouting distance of a 90-95 point season, depending on how things break for them. Blues are going to have to fight.

Kyrou's NTC kicked in back in July. He'd have to approve any possible trades. And, if you're into advanced metrics, his Corsi and Fenwick scores seem to indicate he's doing a much better job the last couple of years. I'm not sure he's the problem, but if we could get something of relative equal value in return, a change of scenery might be good.
