Notifications for random threads

Post by ghostrunner »

Is this a new thing and can I turn it off?

Getting the little badge at the top for messages that aren’t replies to me and I’m not subscribed to the threads. Can’t see any rhyme or reason to it.

One was a brand new thread.

yep, I had it also; click on the notifications, then setting, then only click on to get notified what you want

I already had that set to only quotes of me or topics to which I’m subscribed, which is zero threads anyway. Went ahead and turned that last one off but I shouldn’t have gotten anything. Especially a brand new thread. I’ll see if that works I guess.

That's odd. I have no idea what would do that. I assume you've modified the settings at the top of the notifications box when you click on the bell icon?

Changing that last one seems to have worked. No idea why though.

I'm quote replying you here mostly so that you get the notification badge next time you open GRB. Hi!

Well, mystery solved! Seeing this led me to check on the settings again and I saw you can see your subscriptions, and somehow I'd subscribed to the whole Social Chatter forum and that's where all those threads were. Didn't know you could do that. Also was subscribed to some older unrelated threads I didn't want to subscribe to, so apparently I have bad aim.

On that note, though, just realizing the way you subscribe looks counterintuitive. If you're not subscribed, at the top where it says Subscribe Forum, the box is checked which would seem to imply you are subscribed. Seems backwards.
