Uh oh. Chase Davis is now ranked 25th in the system. “Chase” being the operative name.
The left-handed slugger worked through numerous swing and approach changes in his first full season but appears to be at his best with a swing that often draws comparisons to Carlos Gonzalez with his hands starting high near his head, his stance open and his front leg kicking to generate forward momentum. His raw power numbers are still clearly above average and he can pull the ball well, especially heaters. But soft stuff tailing away from him can be an issue when it comes to whiffs or quality contact. Even during the good times at High-A, he ran a 55.6 percent ground-ball rate, and he's continued to miss on a ton of offspeed pitches in 2025.
Davis gets most of his reps in center field, but with average speed and plus arm strength, he figures to land in a corner full time as he closes in on St. Louis. That puts added pressure on the raw power to come through in games, and with his whiff rates with Springfield, that's becoming a tall order.

.699 OPS at AA for Chase Davis this year. Woof. 114 K's in 91 games.

Yup. I approved and wanted the pick.
I would simply shy away from (or massively regress) Arizona hitters who are power over hit. It gives false positives on their power.

I am just jealous of the Brewers right now. They are running away with the Central this year.
They have more players than us in the top 100. Even if the rankings are crap, that is still telling.
They develop players and coach them. They are just a well run organization.
Brewers list in the top 100 for reference
5 Jesus Made- ss
16 Luis Pena-INF
53 Cooper Pratt SS
65 Jeferson Quero-c
90 Logan Henderson- RHP

I am curious to know how much this is a factor, as opposed to their draft approach.a_smith wrote: ↑August 13 25, 9:47 amI am just jealous of the Brewers right now. They are running away with the Central this year.

For instance, I think some Cardinals have developed very well this year (Donovan, Burly, Scott Herrera). Does the organization get credit for that? And if so, should they get blamed for Walker and Gorman not developing as quickly as we would have thought.
And as far as the Brewers go, are their draft picks just regular guys, but they are molding them into big time contributors?
Or are the Brewers just drafting really well, and these guys like Isaac Collins would be succeeding in every organization?
I am inclined to believe they mostly just draft well (and we by and large haven't been drafting well over the last several years).
