So the Giants got two 45ish guys and an above average major league reliever while we got two 35+ guys and a 40+ guy.

Some of that is proximity to the majors but it feels like SF got the better haul.

No can say no to Buster Posey and his dazzling eyes.

Honestly I think the Cards didnt want 2 guys to fill up spots on the 40 man roster. Seems like proximity to the majors is not a benefit to the Cards as it I feel like they aren't planning to compete for at least another year or 2 and dont want to clog up the 26-man/40-man roster. Seems like they are going to continue to just wait out the current group of major leaguers, just keep letting the younger players either work their way into usefulness or just let them wither away - and the veterans that have No Trade Clauses will just rot on a non-competitive roster. Maybe the changes to the minor league system/scouting/development will start to bare fruit when the Contreras, Sonny, Arenado group has their contracts end.

The 40 man is an absolute mess
This Helsley deal only feels awful in comparison to what the Giants got but honestly, it's a really similar haul. The main difference is the Giants return are guys who are 2-3 years older
