The worst thing the Cardinals could do would be inaction.
But they do nothing so well.

I'm seeing Helsley has been dealt to the Mets.

Agreed. The return looks light.

Two pitchers drafted last year (both are solid prospects) and a 20 year-old SS who generates excellent bat speed but is kind of bad at everything else.

It's probably what should be expected for a few months of a pitcher having a mediocre season, but when compared to other deals it's a quite light return.

They focused on ride and fastball utility in the arms and an explosive mover in the position player. Baez is so not my prospect type, so I'm disappointed. He's a guy with poor plate discipline and chases too much. He doesn't provide defensive value and isn't a plus base runner.

Dohm is a pitcher I like and would've drafted him last year over Holliday.

Read a good point about the impending 40-man crunch for the Cardinals and them targeting players further away.

That is true and all of these guys have a few years before they have to be added.

I thought about it being a 40-man thing, which only shows how lost they are.

But aren't guys like Siani, Roycroft, Luken Baker, etc. part of the 40 man roster, creating this "crunch"?

It's more about players who have to be added to be protected. There are several who will have decisions.

All three of the guys you listed are valuable pieces as well.
