I know there is still about 24 hours left, but this trade deadline has sucked across the board.
48 hours, but yeah....helsley prob won't be till right up to, or even announced after the deadline with almost every contender in on him

I'd be fine trading Donovan. He's got 2 more seasons left, we're not gonna be contending in that time, and he's probably our most attractive player. All depends what they get back. I don't think anyone should be off the table.
To me it would be a mistake to trade Donovan or Romero, we'd be entering perpetual rebuild territory a la the Pirates. We're not that far away.
They delayed being a contender by at least two years when they took a nap last offseason. Unless there’s some magical inclination to spend money, which seems unlikely.

"Our minor-league system has been crushed by injuries. Obviously, that makes even more sense to trade us now to get some prospects."

-- Ryan Helsley
Cardinals ace Sonny Gray was briefly in trade rumors this past offseason but quickly quashed them when he told president of baseball operations John Mozeliak that he wasn’t keen on waiving the full no-trade clause in his contract. Gray’s name has at least tangentially popped back up on the rumor mill with the July deadline now just three days away. The right-hander tells Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Mozeliak recently revisited the subject of Gray waiving his no-trade clause.

The 35-year-old Gray declined to elaborate beyond the mere fact that he and Mozeliak had recently talked about the matter. However, MLB.com’s John Denton reports that during that conversation, the right-hander again conveyed that he prefers to stay in St. Louis — at least for the remainder of the current season. Barring a late change of heart, it seems Gray will remain with the Cardinals for the balance of the regular season.
Despite their need for a third baseman following Isaac Paredes’ recent injury, sources have indicated that the Astros don’t appear inclined to make another bid for Arenado. The Yankees have already filled their hot corner vacancy, removing another potential suitor, but a source said some of the other clubs pursuing Suárez could pivot to Arenado if they miss out on the Arizona slugger.

Arenado has two years and $42 million remaining on his contract beyond this season, earning $27 million in 2026 and $15 million in 2027. Next season’s salary includes $6 million in deferred money, plus $5 million that will be paid by the Rockies as part of the 2021 trade that sent him to St. Louis. The Cardinals would likely have to pay down part of Arenado’s contract in order to move him, but St. Louis’ desire to open a spot for some of its young infielders might prompt them to do that.

My thought is that of the players above only Helsley gets moved. I don't think the market is going to be hot enough for Arenado especially if he limits the places he is willing to go. Gray and Contreras seem to be pretty intent on using their no trade options.

Twins and Giants now saying their relief pitchers are available

Mo is gonna F this up and wait too long and get a crappy return or worse, not trade them all like he needs to.

multiple sources expect jhoan duran to get moved today...the best reliever on the market and controlled for 2 more years, so return should be pretty big I'd think
