Those trades look like the type Bloom might make. I have no illusions that Mo would be remotely that creative. So it depends on when the final decision making torch is passed.
“There are a handful of teams at least poking around on Matz,” per Goold. He adds that the Cardinals will also likely be open to offers on righty Phil Maton but would need a very strong offer to trade closer Ryan Helsley, who could receive a qualifying offer if he’s not moved.
Lol, the qualifying offer for this season was $21.05 million. Helsley is sitting at 0.2 WAR through 97 games. We're gonna be paying him $23 mil next year huh.

This one is intriguing -
Right now I wouldn't place a lot of faith in our team's ability to develop any player.
Not trading Helsley over the winter was malpractice. The kind of decision that gets made when you’re more interested in easing someone into retirement than building a successful baseball team.
The Cardinals don’t have the organizational structure to handle this trade deadline. It’ll be about next season and the guy in charge is washed up and won’t be here. They’ll be frozen in place again.
I get notifications of stories about the Cardinals and if all of them were true, we are not only going to be sellers, we are going to have a fire sale. I agree with those posters who say the team is going to stand pat.
