Has Granlund signed somewhere? Until that happens we have a chance. They’ll make room.
nope, not that I've seen...but we already have 4 centers under contract
already have a lot of wings per DA which is why we shipped out Bolduc I'm assuming, so prob not moving any centers over to a wing. Thomas who's obv awesome 1c, schenn was great with kyrou and Holloway so would have to assume he stays at 2c. we hopefully didn't just sign a guy to sit him, so assuming he'll be at C...so that just leaves sunny, and they seem to love sunny, esp on the PK so I'd have to assume he's got the last one?
Sunny can shift to wing if need be, (rotating 4th line) and I assume the guy we signed was a faksa replacement. I think they would still take a c if the price fit, whether suter or granlund or a cap dump (rodrigues?) I haven’t kept up with all the signings today, so maybe those guys are gone?
So I would guess they’re opportunistic at this point. If it works, good problem to have, if not, go with who we have.
Damn. Really it’s Philly snagging Dvorak for one (!!!) year that hurts. Talk about a perfect stopgap.
Oh well. We can be opportunistic with trades or offer sheets or run this team out there and have probably treaded water which is fine as this is still a reload year, sorta.
Still wish we had bolduc. Hope the new kid is a good long term rd solution.
So barring any other forward additions/subtractions, this is our tentative line combos:
Buch | Thomas | Snuggerud
Neighbors | Schenn | Kyrou
Holloway | Bjugstad | ***
Torpo | Sundqvist | Walker
*** Joseph/Tex/Dvorsky/Other?
I'm OK with that, but it doesn't feel like that 5-10% improvement that they've been talking about. This still feels like a roster that will be fighting for that last wild card spot again.
Holloway would be with schenn and kyrou again im assuming; that line was great together
And assuming Tex would get the 1st shot on the 3rd line with neighbors
This is def a weaker team offensively without bolduc in there.
We also need to do something with the defense. We obv need to keep 7 but have 8. Tucker deserves a spot, so hopefully leddy gets moved (and kessell would be the 7th guy)
I don’t think DA has ever bought out a contract IIRC?
Nvmd it’s standard waivers…
Leddy, 34, cannot be bought out since the first window has closed. Since he’s on standard, not unconditional waivers, this move isn’t made with a contract termination in mind, either. Instead, the Blues are seeing if there are any takers for the final season of his contract, which carries a $4MM cap hit but only $3MM in actual salary, per PuckPedia.
It remains to be seen what happens in the event Leddy clears waivers. If the Blues have made up their minds that he won’t be on their roster next season, he could either accept an AHL assignment and take home his $3MM guaranteed salary for next season or request a mutual termination, forfeiting his money but allowing himself to pursue an NHL opportunity elsewhere in free agency.
