Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
Relooking at the standings, despite both Calgary and the Blues winning their games, because Calgary won in OT yesterday, The Blues are now up one Regulation win, which helps a little as that is the first tie breaker. The Blues are up 3 in the ROW category, the second tiebreaker. With a 4 point lead but the Flames having 3 games in hand, Calgary would need to win two in regulation to tie us and take over the first tiebreaker. If they go 2-1-0 with one win in OT, we will tie the first tiebreaker and lead the second by one ROW. 1-0-2 Would also work for us.
We play MTL next and they are fighting for their playoff lives. (Though their last two were OTL) Calgary plays Seattle who is out of it and on a 2 game losing streak. Best reasonable hope is we win in regulation and Seattle drags it to OT before losing. Then Calgary faces Dallas, Edm, and Col to end the month, all of whom are playing well and are likely still striving for home ice advantage in the first round. We play Colorado and Nashville again.
I think, end of the month, with some luck, the Blues can control their own destiny. They need to take care of MTL and NSH in regulation, and hope Calgary gets no more than 4 points vs Seattle, Dallas, Edm and Col and gaining one less RW than us however that happens. Calgary going 1-1-2 and the Blues 2-1-0 with two RW would be fantastic.
That would leave us 4 points up with two games in hand and baaaaarely control over the tiebreakers heading into the last month.
Yeesh. Lots of ifs ands and buts. Hold on to those last ones.

Holy cow, blues spank mtl 6-1!
Kraken up 2-1 over the flames after two. Go Seattle!
Minnesota lost 5-1 to Vegas. They’ve been stumbling. Probably not enough time to catch them but they are making it close.
Go kraken!!!

I look away for a few minutes in the 3rd and the Blues have scored twice to take the lead. Crazy.

Whew! Blues made it tough, down 2-0 after 1, 2-1 mid way through the 3rd, but Fowler and Holloway score 20ish seconds apart and the boys hang on (barely, Nashville almost scored but time expired) for a 3-2 regulation win. Huge because Minnesota already won. Calgary down 3-1 after 2.
I know it’s Nashville, and they have been poor this year, but it’s damn hard to win 8 in a row against anyone. Another “not their best game but they found a way to win”
Hopefully Dallas wins in regulation giving the blues control over their own destiny for a couple of days. Tough test vs col on sat, who is trying to keep up with Dallas for home ice. Gotta just hope the blues can steal a point on Saturday. Any 2 point scenario vs Col is just gravy.

I can't believe we pulled that off. We sucked for 2 periods.
And I just had a feeling they were going to give up a last second goal. Luckily it was 0.2 seconds late. But FVCK why are we so bad when the other team pulls their goalie??? It's so predictable and frustrating.

Holy cow, Flames putting up a fight. Now down 3-2 late in the third, and they’re outshooting Dallas 46-16!
And as I type this Dallas scores! Shots 46-18!
Please hold Dallas!
