Unless the team goes on a run, which it hasn't been able to do all season, Doug Armstrong is going to follow through with his threat and begin trading some folks. The playoff window is closing on this team. And the refrain about effort and readiness is something we've been hearing for 3 years now.

Yep. A shakeup is coming.
I wonder who really is moveable though. The guys other teams would take are probably the ones we'd want to hang on to.
We'll see soon though. If Col was willing to trade Rantonen, I think Army wouldn't shy away from trading anyone if the return justifies it.
Every player should be looking in the mirror right now.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
Peru traded to NYI cor a conditional 5th
wish he would've been given more of a chance (esp on the power play), but oh well....he wasn't going to be given an opportunity here. Hope he does well for NYI
(side note; enough with Faulk on the PP. he's been bad for awhile with horrible passing. Should be fowler on PP1 and Broberg on PP2. Hell even give parayko a shot, but with him already eating heavy minutes, plus penalty kill, they prob prefer not)

I'm ignorant to hockey drafts, so help me here:
What do the Blues expect to get out of a conditional 5th round pick? How many of those late round picks turn into something as productive as the guy you traded away?Or is this trade a form of a salary dump and/or opening a roster spot for others?

We have actually gotten some useful players later in the draft. No stars or anything…mikechamp wrote: ↑January 27 25, 2:04 pmI'm ignorant to hockey drafts, so help me here:

On the current team we’ve gotten kessell that was drafted in the 5th round. Hofer was in the 4th round. Tucker was a 7th round pick and I’ve really been impressed with him this year. Toro was a 4th rounder. Players we drafted but no longer with the blues are mikkola (5th round), Husso (4th), Blais (6th)
The superstar that comes to mind drafted in the 5th round is Kaprizov with the wild
I’m assuming this is to open a spot. Not sure on who, but possibly Leddy is close to returning? Which will suck when he does, since Tucker will be scratched (and he’s been great), but SHOULD be Faulk but won’t because 1. He’s a RHD and more importantly 2. His contract.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
I agree with cardsfantx. It also seems like a favor to Perunovich to move him to another org where he might stand a better chance of cracking the lineup nightly. Here, he's just never had a prolonged stay in the lineup, and that isn't changing this year with the steady play of Suter and the acquisition of Fowler. If Leddy really is close to returning, there's no way Perunovich was going to be lacing up any time soon.

I remembered NYI just brought in Deangelo, so they must really be hurting for defensemen, so hopefully Peru gets a chance to be in the lineup every night and running a PP unit.GeddyWrox wrote: ↑January 27 25, 2:42 pmI agree with cardsfantx. I bet offensively he could absolutely put up 10ish goals and 30th assists I bet. I honestly don’t know much about his defense as he was always hurt and then in/out of the lineup

This is a good writeup about Scott P.

Former Hobey Baker award winner (2020) as the best player in college hockey. Second round pick by the Blues. Injuries have really hurt his career growth.

Ouch. A 2nd rounder who makes it to the NHL, but then is only worth a 5th rounder in a trade. That seems to be player value heading in the wrong direction in his case.
