I don’t even know who Richie Palacios is. So I’m not too concerned.
Guaranteed future hall of famer.

The Cardinals are turning into the Reds before our eyes.

Spend some damn money.
I think they're done with the FA market. They've had reported interest in multiple FA relievers that shouldn't be crazy expensive but haven't made a deal yet.

I bet they trade Saggese for bullpen depth and end their off season.

I really like what I saw from Palacios last year but the Cardinals have entirely too many Outfielders so this trade makes a lot of sense.

I’m just excited for all the potential William Daniels puns, and the renewed relevance of my avatar I’ve had since like 2006.

I don't disagree at all, but Kittredge isn't better than most of what they already had, in reality. Which is true of Palacios as well.

Still holding out hope for Robert Stephenson, but that's probably laughable.

I don’t know what Palacios will become. I know he has some tools and Tampa likes him. That should be concerning.

I don't mind that they traded Palacios much but I wish we'd have sent him to KC. Royal Dick Palace could have been epic.

I guess Kittredge is more of a scouting question at this point, but the computer gives him a 120 ERA+ next year which is Helsley territory, a bit above the Gallegos and Romero tier, and solidly above Fernandez and Robertson.

I really liked watching Palacios play, but he's 26 and this was a tough roster for him to be on as a LHH 2B/OF. This is incredibly lopsided in terms of service time, and the Rays are a team that would happily take a 2 WAR role player until 2030 while losing a $3M reliever salary. Probably a win for everyone involved.

Every time they add a reliever through trade and the rule 5 draft (3 of their top 6 projected this way this offseason), I just tell myself that Mo is horrendous at signing FA relievers and it keeps the dream of adding another starter alive.
