My wife and I booked a trip to Bhutan today. We are going to hike to this awesome monastery called Paro Taktsang
(Tiger Nest). I'm ultra hyped.

How long is that hike?
Not too long. I think it's a few hours, but I am not 100% sure. The main difficulty with hiking in Bhutan is the altitude.
Bhutan is amazing, but when I first got there, despite taking medicine for it, I got altitude sickness.

But oh my gosh Bhutan is spectacular. Easily a top 5 trip for me... maybe in the top 3.

Been there (literally every time I go above 12,000 ft), my friend. How long did it take you to acclimate. I'd imagine the combo of dehydrating air travel, altitude, and jet lag would get me for a couple of days.

I think it took me about a week, but it's tough at say because after an early hike that went up to 4000m I didn't have anything too challenging until near the end of the two week trip. I think the jet lag really affected me. I knew I was in trouble when I was riding a bike on a slight incline and I was wheezing ha ha.

Seriously, Bhutan is one of the most pristine and beautiful destinations I've ever been to. Very untouched. It's expensive and a pain to get to, but the rewards are huge. Unless you are super in to high altitude trekking I'd choose Bhutan over Nepal any day of the week. You'd dig it the most, thril.

We were planning to leave Monday for our Wisconsin road trip. Saturday the sister-in-law in Madison (our first stop) tested positive. So we decided to pivot and leave on Tuesday, go to Milwaukee, loop up to the family homestead in the Northwoods, then get to Madison once they are over COVID. Had the car all packed and ready to go. Mrs Rad was not feeling well and decided to test. Of course it was positive and this morning so I joined her.

So trip is canceled. Second round of COVID this year. We will try to reschedule later this year and may take a short jaunt up to Maine next week if we’re up to it.

Sorry to hear Rad. You and the Mrs rest up and take care of yourselves.

Wasn’t going to get them until we knew the dates for sure. Figured it wouldn’t be hard to grab gameday tix at Progressive.
