The writer's strike is bringing AI writing to the forefront and every time I read about it, two things immediately spring to mind.

If you're going to replace anything with AI in the content production process, it should be at the management/business side, not the creative side. Their endless search for more and more profit could be done more efficiently and objectively than the people currently advocating to use AI in creative roles.

The most fertile ground for these AI writing programs is within existing, mega popular IP like Marvel & Star Wars. If we as the audience don't evolve our consumption to supporting original work from human creatives, eventually we will have two forms of TV/Movies: small, cheap productions populated with humans and practical effects, and giant CGI franchises created by AI. The diminishing box office returns in Star Wars (Solo) and Marvel (Ant Man, Dr. Strange) are an indicator that audiences aren't falling in love with the bloated CGI-heavy content that these mega IP machines churn out if they don't have any emotional stakes and charismatic performances.

Very lame, I think. There’s a Doogie Howser reboot on Disney Plus with a Hawaiian Girl Doogie. I have no idea who it’s for. In a vacuum at least, it’s very strange that anyone in this industry could be striking right now. I’m not even going to Google if Small Wonder is being remade because I’m certain it’s already in Season 4 on Showtime. If NPH guests I’ll watch that episode of new Doogie and provide a report.

Ai scripts sounds like such a terrible idea. The pitfalls there seem so obvious. The AI can write the Matrix if you ask it to, but it won't come up with it on it's own. That movie was a huge surprise at the time. Marvel is kind of an example even though it's written by humans. The basic plot machinations and even the characters are so similar there's diminished returns. Same goes for acting when they get around to trying that. AI can't do what Nicolas Cage did in Moonstruck.

Well it wasn't supposed to do that. They had plans for ~4 seasons plotted out with each year from the first season leading up to Rogue One. Each season was supposed to spotlight a series of seminal events of that year in Star Wars, but the show didn't get good projections before the first season aired based on test groups so the execs shrunk it down to 2 seasons, are condensing each year to just three to four episode arcs, and calling it all part of the plan. So you'll get a year gap every chunk of episodes in S2 of Andor which will make it kind of House of the Dragon-like.

Star Wars is aiming for the biggest pile of money, not trying to make prestige TV. The Better Call Saul crowd didn't buy rows of Hector Salamanca dolls in Walmart. Very rarely you can have both but usually you don't get an intersection of that and great. To be fair, Star Wars can't afford the ratings BCS had. Andor is too expensive. You'd think the views would come with a 96% critic score on RT with 605 reviews in, but I think that audience checked out of Star Wars somewhere around 2018.
