Vinsanity stayed up all night watching season 5 (is it 5? I don't even know or want to know) of Cobra Kai, then dying, for our sins.

Oh...I clearly know this (see above). That response came out way more condescending and antagonistic than it was meant. Pretty much everyone was on Miami Vice once.
There’s probably a Law and Order equivalent though.

If anyone picked up AppleTv for baseball, watch Severance before you let it expire.

A couple episodes in and Andor is already the best Star Wars show by a long way. I wasn’t even going to watch because Obi Wan and Boba Fett were pretty bad but I’d heard some good things about this. Refreshingly uninterested in lore, lengthy conversations where you just get to sit with good characters, and lots of fun details.
I didn’t know it until seeing the credits but Tony Gilroy is running the show. He wrote/directed Michael Clayton and wrote some of the Bourne movies and took over Rogue One when some execs didn’t like the early cuts. Anyway, it explains a lot about the quality.

Rings of Power seems to be "humanizing" orcs with the Adar storyline. That's interesting. Seems really problematic though. I'm thinking of Gimli and Legolas gleefully counting dead orcs. Maybe there's some precedent in the books?
Anyway, I liked the big battle episode.

What's bugging me about Rings of Power is keeping so many things a mystery for no apparent reason. Like we could have found out about Adar two episodes ago and that would've added to his side of the story more than trying to guess who/what he is or might be. We've already got the nature of Halbrand and meteor man being teased. It's Middle Earth for chrissakes. It's interesting inherently. You don't need to layer mysteries on top of that. Maybe one big one if you want, but that seems like their default opening approach to every story.

I agree if anyone reads this and can, they should watch it but I was less enthralled than others but have hope it will pay off.

This is a good contrast imo because I think the difference there is that the characters don’t know and the outside world in the show knows even less than we do. A lot of the drama is based on what’s being kept from them. It’s a mystery because it’s a mystery to the characters.
Adar knew who he was. Halbrand knows who he is. Isuldur’s family knows what Anarion is doing, what happened to their mother, etc. Why don’t we? It’s silly. Meteor man I’m fine with because he’s learning about himself as we do.
