The culture is interesting, though not completely foreign to me. My old hometown and surrounding area has some elements of it-without as much drawl. the racism is there, but not as prevailing because there simply aren't as many people to be racist towards. They get mostly racist at people on TV or St. Louis or Chicago. I know a few people that could fit right in with the characters (i.e. Tyler and Jake).

that reminded me of the southern MO wife and stepson that offed her husband (purportedly) -the KKK wizard recently in southern MO - in their case they most likely did it too. There they are on the news just talking to the cameras. You also see that when someone dies tragically, in a murder or housefire etc in a poor neighborhood- the news will stick a microphone in front of a relative or neighbor and they talk away. [expletive] it attitude. like it doesn't matter/nothing you can do.
