I've been looking at properties online all over the country. I'd love a remote 5 acres on a river for camping/fishing and goofing around. No HOA, no utlities needed. It barely exists anymore. It's either houses, lots in neighborhoods, or 4,000 acres.

Edit- I need to get away from light pollution so I can see the aliens.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Homo sapiens did not descend from Neanderthals but share a common ancestor, as well as some mixed breeding in Europe. I dunno know what all that stuff about Alpha Centauri is about, the celestial make-up of the system (trinary stars) is not exactly a prime candidate for life due to the temperature variations and goldilocks zone orbital problems.

It sounds like someone just chose the closest stars to earth and decided to just wing it. Also AC wasn't the closest star to the Sol System when humans evolved. Stars move around.

These are questions I love to ponder. I love stargazing and I love just looking up and wondering where/if it ends and what's past that. It's also like pondering the existence of god or in your example the person running the simulator. Well who created that guy? If I think about it to hard I actually start to get some anxiety when I realize how much of a nothing I am. At the same time it's a little freeing as well.

Ditto. It's really fun to think about because while there are no shortage of hypotheses out there, so many questions remain. It's both entertaining and terrifying, awe inspiring and depressing.

I'm beyond skeptical of this. It doesn't really make sense from DNA and fossil migration perspective.

A lot of this can be attributed to how quickly humans moved throughout earth in different environments and what/how we've innovated.

For example, skin color is dependent on UV levels from the area on earth ancestors came from. When we move away from those areas is when the problems arise.

Here's another one - do you know why we have crooked teeth? It's because when we innovated farming our jaws got smaller because they didn't need to be as strong. That makes our teeth crooked.

Regarding breeding with neanderthals - that 100% happened and we have DNA evidence to prove it. Interestingly, white people have the most Neanderthal DNA, around 4% IIRC, compared to roughly 1% in black people. Neanderthals, were better suited to cold weather environments due to their shorter limbs which helps with heat conservation. Therefore, European humans breeding with neanderthals makes sense when we migrated there. Conversely, Africans tend to have thinner longer limbs because conserving heat isn't an issue.

This stuff is fun to think about, but it has no basis is reality. I'll also add there's a ton of clickbait "science" websites out there that have interesting headlines, but aren't any better then crap you find on facebook. Sorry to be that guy. Regardless, fun thread.
